November 2025 Match Month Campaign

For the 10th year in a row, the Sheridan County Community Foundation will once again take part in the Dane G. Hansen Foundation’s Match Month initiative accepting donations every day during the month of November 2025.
The Hansen Foundation will provide a 100% match for every dollar raised up to a maximum of $50,000 per county which will be put into the endowed unrestricted community grant fund. If the full $50,000 is reached for the grant fund, SCCF will also receive an additional $45,000 for their operating endowment fund providing for the organization’s ongoing sustainability, and an extra $5,000 for immediate operating needs.

This year, the Patterson Family Foundation, Kansas City, is also generously offering additional matching support up to $100,000. Therefore, we have set our 2025 fundraising goal of local donations at $100,000 in order to maximize the opportunities provided by both private foundations.
Every dollar donated will be tripled in value thanks to the incredible generosity of both the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and Patterson Family Foundation.
All of the past Match Month campaigns have been helping us establish and grow our own large endowment grant fund called the "Cultivate Sheridan County Fund.” This fund now has over $1.2 million in principal and will have the capacity to award up to $50k in grant funds annually. As we continue to grow the fund with the support of local donors, we will also be able to grow its grant giving capacity. Presently, a universal application form is used for all grant requests. the Board of Directors review applications received monthly and making funding determinations.
What is an endowed fund?
An endowment fund, quite simply, is money set aside (invested) to earn revenue to fund some type of charitable activity. Unlike a typical investment fund, the beneficiary of an endowment fund is a nonprofit organization instead of individual investors.
The principal value of the endowment fund is kept intact, while the investment earnings can be distributable dollars used for charitable grants to nonprofits. Thus, an endowment fund can be held permanently, allowing donors to support causes they care about in perpetuity.
Donations to endowment funds are tax deductible. Donors often set up endowment funds so they can receive charitable tax benefits immediately upon making their donation while maintaining the social-good grantmaking power for the long term.
No donation amount is too big or too small for this challenge. ($1 donated = $3 in total value).
All with an affinity for Sheridan County are encouraged to contribute and help make a difference in the lives of those in the area for years to come. Donations can be mailed to SCCF, PO Box 445, Hoxie, KS 67740; dropped off at the Foundation's offices located inside Bottle KAP Studios, 721 Main St. in Hoxie, or ONLINE (link will be activated on November 1, 2025). Please ensure checks are dated within November 2025.
