Mural on Main
On July 1st, 2026, the Mural on Main project reached completion after months of dedicated planning and preparation. Talented local artists Jennifer Carder, Chloe Johnson, and Sarah Dardis brought the mural to life, skillfully capturing the spirit and history of Hoxie's Main Street. To honor their work and collective effort, a community celebration was held to express gratitude to everyone involved. Across the park, mural, and video projects, approximately 120 community members contributed their time and talents through decision-making, volunteering, and support—including the elementary students who helped name the park.
The mural is located at “Pocket Park on Main,” nestled between Hirsch & Abbott Law Office and First State Bank on Hoxie’s Main Street. The Mural on Main Project was made possible by the Sheridan County Community Foundation, through support from the Kansas Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, local partners, volunteers, and community supporters.
Stories on Main
Stories are meant to be told. This was the idea behind the Stories on Main project. Intended to complement the “Mural on Main” project, these interviews evolved into professionally captured shared memories about Hoxie, Kansas, Main Street, inspiring and supporting what already exists. Great people with beautiful spirits. The Sheridan County Community Foundation hopes residents and visitors enjoy these stories as they bask in ‘Pocket Park on Main” offerings. This project would not have been possible without the local talent of Story Pocket Productions, producer Ed Lowry and assistant videographer Simone Lowry.

Hoxie filmmaker Ed Lowry of Story Pocket Productions brings local stories to life through documentary filmmaking. His most familiar work in this area is his PBS Cottonwood Connections films.
