Scholarship opportunities available for Sheridan County graduating seniors

The Sheridan County Community Foundation (SCCF) is proud to offer multiple scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors from Sheridan County who are pursuing post-secondary education.


The Foundation currently administers four local scholarship funds, and two additional scholarship opportunities managed by the Thomas County Community Foundation in Colby are also open to Sheridan County seniors based on eligibility criteria.


Eligible students are encouraged to submit their applications online by March 31, 2026 (unless otherwise stated), for the following scholarships:


  • Opal and Adolph Harris Scholarship Fund – Two scholarships of $1,750 each are available. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required, with preference given to students enrolling in on-campus programs.

  • Youth on the Move Scholarship Fund – Two scholarships of $250 each will be awarded, with preference given to students pursuing programs lasting two years or less, though four-year programs are also eligible.

  • Fred L. Moss Memorial Scholarship – One scholarship of $500 is available. Applicants must have a 2.5 minimum GPA and plan to attend a 4- or 2-year university, college, or vocational/technical school. Candidates must demonstrate academic potential, intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and a commitment to community throughout their educational journey.

  • Pheasants Forever Memorial Scholarship – One scholarship of $500 is available. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and possess hunter education certification.

  • Education Empowerment Scholarship Fund – One scholarship of $1,000 is available for students with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Eligible institutions include four- or two-year colleges, universities, or vocational/technical schools. Preference will be given to applicants with a well-rounded resume showcasing work experience, extracurricular involvement, and community service. (Early deadline of March 15, 2026).

  • 15th Judicial District Scholarship Fund – Two scholarships of $1,500 each are available to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Female students majoring in Pre-Law or Criminology who plan to work within the 15th Judicial District for at least two years are eligible. (Early deadline of March 15, 2026).

The Foundation also invites donors interested in establishing new scholarship funds to reach out. Scholarships through SCCF are endowed, providing lasting support for future high school graduates.
