The Kansas Sampler Foundation’s “Big Kansas Road Trip Pop Up” event is coming to Sheridan County this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4, bringing a full day of activities, tours, and sing-alongs designed to showcase the best of rural Kansas life.
This event has opened the door for unique tours and an inside perspective into the hidden gems of Sheridan County. From a rare opportunity to tour our historic jail, to cookies at the beautiful Golden Plains walking park in Selden, and the behind-the-scenes access at Foote Cattle Company, attendees and locals have an opportunity to explore the industries and people that keep Sheridan County thriving.
Visitors and Locals are encouraged to stop into the Hoxie Community Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for the Home-based Business Market and support our wide range of home-based businesses, and local organizations.
Highlights include: Baked By Kinley; Drink the Vibe, LLC - Specialty teas and energy drinks; Frosted Cookie CO.- frosted cookies and cakes; Hot Moss Buns & Epic Meals: sourdough breads and rolls; Artisan and specialty breads by Tyra Stephens; Ceramics by Jackie Campbell; Essential oils and simple syrups by Jessica Kissick; and the USD 412 Track Renovation Fundraising Committee - meal kits.
Carol Farber will also be selling homemade jams and jellies down the street in front of The Sheridan Sentinel office.
The day’s activities will span from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., where explorers and residents can explore various locations and support local businesses throughout the day, and then conclude the event at Cottonwood Ranch with a chuckwagon-style supper hosted by the Hoxie Boy Scouts and a live musical performance by Scott Cameron. The Boy Scouts will be serving chili, cornbread, and homemade desserts to fundraise for the National Jamboree, so please join us in supporting our local organizations and their fundraising efforts.
